CREDAI-Pune Metro awards developers for providing ‘Best Facilities for Labour Camps’ at construction sites
Pune, January 6, 2021: In order to promote awareness among developers over providing best facilities and safety measures for construction laborers, CREDAI-Pune Metro under its Kushal initiative organized the ‘Best Facility Award 2020’ competition for builders.
The winners of the competition were felicitated by CREDAI National President, Satish Magar.
Members of CREDAI-Pune Metro including Suhas Merchant, President, Ranjit Naiknavare, Vice President, Kishore Pate, Vice President and organizer of the competition, Members of Kushal and Labour Welfare Committee including J.P. Shroff, Chairman, Milind Talathi, Sameer Belvalkar, Kapil Trimal and Sapna Rathi among others were present during the occasion.
CREDAI-Pune Members also unveiled the information booklet of their new initiative titled – Best Facility Awards 2020-21, Competition for Best Facility at Labour Camp at Construction Sites.
The competition was held on the basis of accommodation for workers, training, provision of toilets, health check-ups, availability of essential services during COVID pandemic, Creche and mid-day meal arrangements for the children of the workers among other recreational facilities. A total of 87 builders from Pune participated in this competition and experts from Pune Construction Engineering Research Foundation (PCERF) shortlisted 20 eligible construction sites and chose the final winners.
In the section of Accommodation for Labourers, Godrej Properties Ltd. stood first in Category 3 (Sites with 300 plus workers), while Pride Purple Group stood first in Category 2 (sites with 101 to 300 workers). Godrej Properties was also awarded the first prize in Category 1 (sites with 21 to 100 workers). Ltd.
In the section of Construction Developer and Contractor, Godrej Properties Ltd. and Millennium Engineers and Contractors Pvt. Ltd. stood first in Category 3, while Pride Purple Group and Buildic Construction Pvt. Ltd. stood first in Category 2. Godrej Properties Ltd. and Viraj I Projects Ltd. was awarded first place in Category 1.
In Special Category Awards, Panchshil Realty and Pegasus Properties Pvt. Ltd (Kumar Properties) were awarded first prize for Sites with Maximum Labour Registration under BOCW. For Best Hygiene practice Godrej Properties Ltd. stood first while Rohan Builders and Developers Pvt. Ltd. was honored with the second prize.
Rohan Builders and Developers Pvt. Ltd was awarded for Best Safety and Sanitation facilities and Pharande Spaces was awarded for Best Training Facilities at the site. Vascon Engineers Ltd. was felicitated for Best Innovation, while Kolte Patil Group was honored for providing Best COVID facility.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Magar said, “I am grateful to CREDAI Pune Metro and Kushal CREDAI for highlighting this subject, which is an important step for the builders who participated in the competition to show the world the facilities provided to the workers. I am confident that what is happening in Pune will be considered at the national level and will create a positive difference in the facilities provided to the workers at the sites. Unfortunately, the laborers who build beautiful houses often live near the walls of the construction site and that is an abysmal side of the construction sector.”
Suhas Merchant said, “Just as we take care of the customers and their needs, we also need to take care of the construction workers and the facilities they are entitled to.”
