CUET-UG 2025 Postponed to May 13; Aspirants Await Exam City Slips Amid Uncertainty

New Delhi, 6th May 2025: The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programmes (CUET-UG) 2025, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will now begin on May 13—five days later than its originally planned start date—according to sources familiar with the development.
The delay has triggered widespread anxiety among the 13.5 lakh registered candidates, especially as the NTA has yet to release official city intimation slips or a detailed schedule. These slips, which inform candidates of the exam centre location and potentially subject-wise test dates, are now expected to be released by Tuesday or Wednesday.
“There has been a lack of timely communication from the NTA this year, and it’s creating confusion for students, particularly those traveling from different states,” said an education consultant, who is assisting several CUET aspirants.
Sources indicate that the CUET-UG 2025 exam window will now stretch from May 13 to the first week of June, with the number of daily shifts depending on centre availability. Each shift will feature two to three sessions, depending on the subject load and logistical arrangements.
In a major departure from the previous year’s format, the CUET-UG 2025 will be conducted entirely in computer-based test (CBT) mode for all 37 subjects. Each subject paper will include 50 multiple-choice questions and have a time duration of 60 minutes.
English has emerged as the most popular subject this year, with over 10 lakh candidates opting for it, necessitating at least 10 shifts to accommodate the volume. The General Test has also received more than 8 lakh registrations, posing additional scheduling challenges.
Unlike previous editions, the NTA has not published a formal date sheet in advance. Instead, detailed exam information is expected to be conveyed solely through the city intimation slips.
The delay in communication has drawn concern from both students and their families. “We haven’t booked travel yet because we don’t know the exam city or date. It’s very stressful,” said a parent whose daughter is registered for three subjects.
