Dr Suhas Diwase Urges Banks in Pune to Stay Alert for Irregular Transactions

Pune, 18th March 2024: Pune District Collector, Dr. Suhas Diwase, emphasized the importance of vigilance regarding suspicious bank transactions during the ongoing implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha General Election. In a meeting with bank officials at the Collector’s office, Dr Diwase directed banks to promptly report any suspicious transactions to the district administration.

Attending the meeting were Additional Collector and Election Expenditure Monitoring Officer, Sonappa Yamgar, Deputy District Election Officer, Minal Kalaskar, and District Leading Bank Manager, Pravin Nalavde.

Dr. Diwase highlighted that, by Election Commission guidelines, a coordination committee has been established to relay information on bank transactions to the Election Commission. The administration is particularly vigilant regarding transactions exceeding one lakh rupees. Banks are urged to designate coordinator officers and promptly share information on suspicious transactions with the district administration through the district lead bank officer. Special attention is being paid to sensitive areas of financial transactions.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from nationalized banks, cooperative banks, credit institutions, and financial institutions, signifying a collaborative effort to ensure the integrity of financial transactions during the election period.
