Ensure That Swimming Pool Accidents Are Prevented: Police Orders At Meeting Of Bungalow Owners In Lonavala
Lonavala, 27th December 2022: Sub-Divisional Police Officer Satyasai Karthik ordered measures to prevent accidents in the swimming pool on the premises of private bungalows in Lonavala. The police have appealed to the tourists to keep a record of the tourists coming to stay in the bungalows and take care of security.
During the holidays of Christmas and New Year, a large number of tourists visit the Lonavala and Khandala regions. A child drowned in a private bungalow swimming pool in Lonavala a month ago. A case has been registered against the bungalow owners along with the workers.
The Lonavala police organised a meeting of bungalow owners and maintenance workers, against this backdrop. The meeting was attended by 100 bungalow owners from the rural and city areas of Lonavla. On this occasion, Lonavala Sub Divisional Police Officer Satyasai Karthik, Police Inspector Kishore Dhumal, Sub Inspector Sanjay Jadhav, and others were present.
During this meeting, the police gave instructions on how to take various measures to ensure the safety of tourists and prevent accidents. To prevent small children from easily falling into the bungalow’s swimming pool, precautions should be taken. The swimming pool area should be surrounded by a temporary fence. The police instructed that it is mandatory to hire lifeguards, keep security guards in the swimming pool area and take permission for the swimming pool. Accordingly, the owners of the bungalows must obtain the licence issued by the Maharashtra State Tourism Corporation (MTDC).
The tourists staying in the bungalow should fulfil the security guarantee. Care should be taken so that neighbours are not disturbed. The bungalow’s premises and entrance ought to have CCTV cameras installed. Women’s safety should be considered. An appeal was made by the police that the legal matters should be fulfilled.
During the meeting, SDPO Karthik warned that if an accident occurs in the bungalows in Lonavala, legal action will be taken. There will be a rush of tourists in the background of Christmas and New Year. The police have appealed to celebrate the New Year by following the rules.
