Jaipur/Nashik, 21st March 2022: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot has been accused of fraud. According to the FIR registered by the Nashik police, Vaibhav and 14 other people have duped a person of ₹6.8 crore on the pretext of entering into a contract with the state government.
the other hand, Vaibhav Gehlot refuted the allegations, saying that he was hopeful that such a “false FIR” would be registered before the Rajasthan assembly elections next year.
33-year-old Sushil Bhalchandra Patil had alleged that between January 1, 2018 and January 1, 2020, this amount was fraudulently taken from him, after which he filed a complaint. According to the complaint, the accused told him that this money was being taken to invest in the Rajasthan government’s e-toilet project under the tourism department.
According to the FIR alleging fraud to the tune of Rs 6.80 crore the accused took Rs 3.93 crore into his
bank accounts and promised huge returns.” Apart from this, the accused also took some cash. Altogether, the complainant has been cheated to the tune of Rs 6.80 crore. The accused cheated the complainant and did not keep his promise to return the money.
The
complainant said that he had initially approached the police seeking action against the accused, but no case was registered. Thereafter, he approached the district court seeking a direction to file a complaint under section 156(3) of the Indian Penal Code. After which the Gangapur Police of Maharashtra registered an FIR against 15 people.
Speaking on the allegations,
police station in-charge Riyaz Sheikh said, ‘Sushil Patil had given a complaint, after which a case has been registered against 15 people.
One of the accused, Sachin Valera had promised him good returns. He said that the case has been registered on March 17 after the court issued an order under Section 156(3) of the IPC. Responding to the allegations, Vaibhav, president of Rajasthan Cricket Association and son of Ashok Gehlot, said, “Before the assembly elections are to be held in 2023, such baseless allegations and false FIRs will keep coming to the fore.” I came to know about this complaint lodged in Nashik through media. I am not aware of any such thing. They are making such baseless allegations but we have to work and serve the people. We will continue this, then no matter how many false allegations they make.
Kataria seeks reply from Chief Minister Gehlot
On the other hand, Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Gulab Chandra Kataria has demanded an answer from Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on the registration of a corruption case against his son Vaibhav Gehlot. Kataria said that in the case registered in Nashik, Maharashtra, it has been alleged that Vaibhav Gehlot and others tried to collude in Nashik, Maharashtra in the name of
getting the tender for making e-toilets in Rajasthan.
