Five upsets at the 20th Ramesh Desai Nationals U12 Tennis Tournament 2026
Mumbai, 3rd March 2026: As many as five upsets were recorded in the pre quarterfinal round of the boys and girls singles As many as five at the 20th Ramesh Desai Nationals U12 Tennis Tournament 2026 which is being organized by MSLTA and played at GA Ranade Tennis Centre, Mumbai.
In the boys’ section, sixth seed Kanishk of Delhi staged a strong comeback after dropping the opening set to defeat Aadvik Khanna 5-7, 6-0, 6-3. Fourth seed Karnatka’s Dhanush SM and fifth seed Adhish PM of Tamil Nadu were in dominant form, both recording emphatic 6-0, 6-0 victories to cruise into the next round. Third seed Kabir Dahiya from Haryana also advanced comfortably with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Maharashtra’s Abir Sukhani held his nerve in a thrilling three-set battle against tenth seed Shlok Aland, prevailing 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(3). Krishna Singh of Uttar Pradesh overcame Prabir Patel 6-2, 7-6(3) in a competitive match, while Aarush Deshpande and Aarush Khanna registered straight-set wins to move ahead. Kumar Kautilya of Chandigarh and Vilas Taranekar from Haryana also progressed with solid performances.
In the girls’ draw, top seed Priyangsi Chatterjee of West Bengal continued her impressive run with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Aarohee Sharma. Second seed Asees Brar of Punjab and fourth seed Aneeksha Govinolla from Telangana advanced in straight sets.
Seventh seed Kristi Haloi from Assam and fifth seed Ruhi Singh of Karnataka delivered flawless displays with identical 6-0, 6-0 scorelines. Local lad Samaira Thakur upset eighth seed Tyakshi Lather 6-4, 6-2, while Kaashvi Konaki of Karnataka, Evana Arora of West Bengal, Peram Atharv of Andhra Pradesh and Eshita Patil of Maharashtra also secured impressive wins to book their places in the quarterfinals.
