Pune 6th July 2023: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday directed the Pune City Police to provide police cover to the same-sex couple in Pune after they alleged that one of them was facing violence from her family. The woman also alleged that her family was not allowing her to live with her partner in Pune and forcibly took her to their hometown in Solapur.

The two women aged 28 years and 32 years met on a social media platform in 2020. One of them who hails from Bihar came to Pune after this and the other woman who hails from Solapur also came here. They started living here together unless the family members of Solapur woman took her away forcibly as they were against this relationship.

However, the woman managed to escape from Solapur later and returned to Pune. She works as a nurse in Pune while the other woman is a double graduate. Both of them after this incident approached the Bombay High Court seeking police protection fearing for their lives.

The police assured the High Court that they will be provided security with two police constables in plain clothes. The court also directed the police to not entertain the missing complaint filed by the woman’s family. The petition is kept for hearing after two weeks.
