2 April 2019 : The administration of ‘Jawahar Navpday Vodyalay’ which is under the Central Government has planned to hold the entrance examination for standard VI on 6th April which is a festival day of Hindus’ New Year Day i.e. Gudhipadwa. Various Hindtvavadi organisations including Hindu Janajagruti Samiti have protested the decision. To hold the examinations on the day of Hindu festival when the Government at Central and State is Hindutvavadi deserves condemnation. Therefore, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has demanded with the Union Minister for Human Research Development Prakash Jawadekar through a memorandum that an action should be taken against the administration of‘ Jawahar Navpday Vodyalay’. A representation in this regard has also been submitted to Mr. Animesh Pal, Principal of Navoday Vidyalay Kankon, Goa.

While the above representation was submitted in Goa, Mr. Govind Lolayekar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Mr. Kashinath Vaze of Nava-varsh Swagat Samiti Paingan, Mr. Shrikrushna Desai, President of Shri Maruti Mandir Chawadi were present. The representation states – Gudhipadwa is an important festival and a New Year Day for Hindus. The Scriptures mention the day of Chaitra Shuddha Pratipada as the day of creation of universe. This day has not only spiritual importance, but also natural and historical significance. On this day, crores of Hindus erect Gudhi and worship it. Hindus throughout the country welcome the New Year by dressing traditionally and organising cultural programmes along with taking out grand processions with fanfare and a lot of enthusiasm and happiness. Since the examinations are planned on this very day, the Hindu students are not in a position to accrue benefits of such an important day, which needs to be protested. The Jawahar Navoday Vidyalays are working throughout 34 States of the country and thousands of students studying there are Hindus. ‘Whether such examination would have been planned on Muslim religious festival like ‘Eid’ or Christian’s ‘Christmas’ ?’ Dr. Manoj Solanki of Samiti has raised the question.

There appears to be a sinister plan to keep the entrance examination on the day of festival so that Hindu students will not be able to attend it on a large scale and thus, the students from other communities would be able to get entrance in their place. Therefore, demands were made that the Management of Vidyalay should immediately postpone the examination to be held on Gudhipadwa to a later date and action should be taken against the persons connected with taking such decision.
