Hinjawadi Infrastructure Plan Ready, To Be Presented Before CM Next Month: Pune District Collector
Pimpri Chinchwad, 18th August 2026: The Pune district administration has finalised a separate action plan to address traffic and infrastructure issues in Hinjawadi and nearby areas, and the proposal is at a more advanced stage than the plan recently prepared for Chakan, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi said on Tuesday.
Dudi made the statement while addressing a joint press conference with Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey after a multi-agency meeting at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate on infrastructure and traffic issues in the Chakan industrial belt.
According to Dudi, the Hinjawadi plan will be presented to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at a meeting scheduled next month. The administration expects the proposals to move forward after the chief minister’s review and approval.
“A parallel plan for Hinjawadi is ready and is further advanced than the Chakan plan. A committee for Hinjawadi was formed much earlier, and it has already worked on a plan to address several issues in the area,” Dudi said.
He declined to disclose the details of the Hinjawadi proposals, saying the press conference was focused on the Chakan action plan. He indicated that more details would emerge in the coming weeks.
Multi-agency coordination at the centre of plan
Hinjawadi has experienced sustained infrastructure pressure as the area has developed into one of Pune’s major employment and IT hubs. Traffic congestion, road infrastructure and increasing demands on civic amenities have remained persistent concerns.
The district administration is now looking at a coordinated mechanism involving multiple government agencies to address these issues. A similar approach has been adopted for Chakan, where authorities identified lack of coordination between agencies as one of the factors contributing to infrastructure problems.
Under the Chakan model, departments and agencies have been assigned specific responsibilities and timelines instead of handling individual problems in isolation.
Dudi said coordination among the concerned agencies would also be crucial for the implementation of the Hinjawadi plan. Infrastructure projects will need to be planned in accordance with the requirements of the rapidly developing area, he said.
Plan may move faster after approval
The administration’s decision comes amid continued concerns over infrastructure and traffic conditions in Pune’s major employment corridors.
Chakan and Hinjawadi have both witnessed significant industrial and commercial growth, putting additional pressure on their road networks and supporting infrastructure.
While the Chakan plan has now entered the implementation stage with deadlines for various measures, Dudi said the Hinjawadi proposal was already at a comparatively advanced stage.
The proposals are expected to be discussed with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis next month. The administration hopes that the required approvals will allow implementation to begin and lead to visible improvements in Hinjawadi and surrounding areas.
Dudi, however, did not disclose specific projects, timelines or other details of the proposed Hinjawadi action plan.
