Pune, December 31, 2020: Maharashtra State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh will welcome 2021 differently. He will be present in the police control room from midnight today. He will also receive the first call received at the control room at midnight.

Every year the new year celebration is done in hotels and restaurants but this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak it won’t be possible. Most of the people will be busy celebrating the New year at homes. However, police have to be alert. The police control room is the heartbeat of the police force, where each and every small incident gets recorded. Police receive every phone call and solve people’s problems. Along with policemen, Deshmukh will be present in the control room.

Deshmukh said, “I consider myself the head of the Maharashtra Police Force. I travelled to 32 districts to meet my colleagues while they were working tirelessly during the pandemic. The purpose was to make them realise that I am with them. While the whole world is busy celebrating the new year my colleagues will be busy doing their duty to protect them. That is why I will be with them.”

“Police control room personnel always have to be in ‘Alert’ state. However, they do not get the respect and rights which they should. On the night of 31st December, I will go to the Police control room to wish the staff a happy new year. Not only this I will chat with them and work with them at midnight. 2020 was full of tension due to Covid-19 outbreak but the coming year is hopeful. For this I will cut a cake with my police colleagues with the words ‘Hope 2021’,” said Deshmukh.
