Kanpur, 1st October 2022: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023 registration deadline has been extended by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Kanpur). Candidates can now submit their applications via gate.iitk.ac.in until October 4.

The GATE exam will be held on February 4, 5, 11, and 12, and the admit cards will be available starting on January 3, 2023. To guarantee that students don’t have to travel too far, IIT-Kanpur has added 23 new cities and towns.

Anyone who is enrolled in their third or higher year of an undergraduate programme is eligible to apply for GATE 2023. The applicant may also be eligible to take the exam if they have successfully completed any degree programme that has been authorised by the government in the fields of engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, or the arts.

The eligibility requirements are available at: gate.iitk.ac.in/eligibility criteria.

In the event that an applicant took two exams, each exam would have been worth 100 points. General aptitude (GA), which will be a requirement for all exams and carry 15 marks, will be part of the test. The remaining portion of the paper, which covers the relevant subject, will be of 85 marks.

Three hours will be allotted for the examination. Three different question types will be present: multiple choice (MCQ), multiple select (MSQ), and numerical answer type(NAT). There will be 65 questions in total (10 GA and 55 subject).

Negative marking will be applied to incorrect MCQ answers, but not to incorrect MSQ or NAT ones.
