IMD Issues Orange Alert for Pune, Heavy Rainfall Likely in Several Maharashtra Districts
Pune, 30th June 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune, Satara, and Ratnagiri districts as rainfall activity intensifies across Maharashtra. Several other regions, including parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha, Western, and North Maharashtra, remain under a yellow alert, indicating the possibility of moderate rainfall.
Districts currently under yellow alert include Beed, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Nanded, Kolhapur, Sangli, Jalgaon, and Ahilyanagar. The alerts are part of a broader advisory as the southwest monsoon has now covered the entire country, the IMD confirmed on Sunday.
Light Rainfall Across Pune and Ghat Regions
While Pune city experienced light showers over the weekend, heavier rainfall was recorded in surrounding ghat areas. According to IMD data till 9 am on Monday, rainfall recorded in last 24 hours:

“Pune is expected to see generally cloudy skies with occasional light rain in the coming days,” an IMD official said, adding that rainfall activity is likely to pick up further in some areas.
Rainfall Recorded Across the State
Besides Pune, other parts of Maharashtra also witnessed light to moderate rainfall on Sunday. Notable readings include Kolhapur (21.9 mm), Nashik (12.8 mm), Nandurbar (18.7 mm), Palghar (27.5 mm), Raigad (22.4 mm), Thane (14.9 mm), and Dhule (10.5 mm). Marathwada, however, remained mostly dry during this period.
