Ladakh, January 9, 2021: Indian soldiers have captured a Chinese soldier on the southern shore of Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh. The Chinese soldier had come across the LAC on Friday morning, who was arrested by Indian soldiers. The captured soldier of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is being treated as per the laid down procedures, investigations are currently underway to affirm under which circumstances he crossed the LAC.

According to officials, Chinese soldier has been caught in the Rezang La Haute area. China has been told that their soldier is currently in our possession. The two armies are in contact with each other. Soldiers have been stationed in areas adjoining LAC on behalf of the two countries since the confrontation occurred last year.

In October last year, a Chinese soldier was captured by the Indian Army in the Chumar-Demchok area. Important documents were also recovered from the Chinese soldier. After interrogation, the Indian Army had returned its soldier to China. China claimed that a soldier had crossed the LAC while helping a shepherd find the lost yak.

There has been tension between India and China over LAC in Ladakh for nearly 9 months. There was also a violent clash between the armies of the two countries in June, in which 20 soldiers of India were martyred and China also suffered heavy losses. Dragged by the construction of roads and bridges in Indian territory, the dragon increased the mobilization of troops along the border. Even after several rounds of talks, the forces have not retreated.
