Lockdown 5: LPG cylinders to cost more from today

New Delhi, June 1, 2020: Unlock 1.0 has started in India today and the common man has got a shock on its first day. The oil marketing companies of the country have increased the prices of LPG cylinders without subsidies. The prices of non-subsidized LPG cylinders of 19 kg and 14.2 kg have increased from today. Oil companies review the prices of LPG cylinders at the beginning of every month. Tax varies from state to state and LPG prices vary accordingly.

 

According to information received from IOCL website, 14.2 kg non-subsidized LPG cylinder has become costlier by Rs 11.50 in Delhi. Now it has been priced at Rs 593, which was earlier Rs 581.50. In Kolkata, its price has increased from Rs 584.50 to Rs 616, in Mumbai it has increased from Rs 579 to Rs 590.50. In Chennai, it was earlier Rs 569.50, which has become Rs 606.50 from today.

 

A 19 kg cylinder has become expensive by Rs 110 in Delhi. Now it has been priced at Rs 1139.50, which was earlier Rs 1029.50. In Kolkata, its price has increased from Rs 1086 to Rs 1139.50, in Mumbai it has increased from Rs 978 to Rs 1087.50. In Chennai, it was earlier Rs 1144.50, which has become Rs 1254 from today.

 

At present, the government provides subsidy on 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg for each household in a year. If customers want more cylinders than this, then they buy them at market price. The price of a gas cylinder changes every month. Its prices determine factors such as average international benchmarks and changes in foreign exchange rates.

 

IOC had said that customers can book LPG at a difference of 15 days only. During the lockdown, IOC President Sanjeev Singh had assured in a video message that there is no shortage of LPG in the country.
