Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani Flooded With Tourists During Long Weekend
Satara, 16th August 2025: After the stretch of consecutive holidays — Independence Day, Krishna Janmashtami, and Sunday — Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani have turned into major tourist hotspots, drawing large crowds despite continuous monsoon showers.
Popular attractions including Lingmala Waterfall, Venna Lake, and Arthur Seat Point are packed with visitors, while the bustling marketplaces are equally vibrant. Police have deployed teams to manage traffic and ensure smooth movement as tourist inflow continues.
Hotels, resorts, and restaurants across the twin hill stations have geared up with festive decorations to welcome holidaymakers. With steady drizzle adding to the charm of the monsoon, most accommodations — from hotels and lodges to private villas and bungalows — were booked well in advance, leaving last-minute tourists struggling for rooms. Tourist hotspots such as Kate’s Point and Lodwick Point are witnessing heavy footfall, while historical attractions like Pratapgad Fort and local handicraft markets are also drawing significant crowds.
The holy month of Shravan has added to the rush at Mahabaleshwar’s sacred temples, where long queues of devotees are seen. Lingmala Waterfall, in particular, has become the highlight of the season, with tourists capturing photos and videos of its gushing waters cascading down lush green mountains. The nearby Tapola region, known for the Pratap Singh Dam, is also bustling with visitors.
Mahabaleshwar’s famous main market remains packed with shoppers, many indulging in window shopping or purchasing warm clothing and the hill station’s signature leather footwear.
Venna Lake is another hotspot, with tourists braving dense fog, chilly winds, and drizzles to enjoy boating, horse rides, and the unique thrill of monsoon tourism. The Chowpatty food stalls are thriving, serving piping-hot Maggi noodles, roasted corn, corn bhel, and steaming cups of spiced tea, adding warmth and flavor to the misty weather.
