Maharashtra Budget Session to Begin on February 23, State Budget on March 6

Mumbai, 10th February 2026: The Budget Session of the Maharashtra Legislature will be held in Mumbai from Monday, February 23 to Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The state budget will be presented on March 6. The schedule was finalised at a meeting of the Legislature’s Business Advisory Committee.

The meeting was held at Vidhan Bhavan and was attended by Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Adv. Rahul Narvekar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr Neelam Gorhe, Assembly Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode, Higher and Technical Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, and several MLAs including Anil Parab, Prasad Lad, Bhaskar Jadhav, Jayant Patil, Sunil Prabhu, Bhai Jagtap, Pravin Darekar, Vikram Kale and Satej Patil. Legislature Secretary Jitendra Bhole and senior officials were also present.

During the meeting, tributes were paid to the late Deputy Chief Minister and Finance and Planning Minister Ajit Pawar, who also held the Excise portfolio. On the first day of the session, obituary references will be moved in both Houses.

It was also decided that legislative business will be conducted on Saturday, February 28, despite it being a government holiday. However, there will be no proceedings on March 2 (Holi) and March 3 (Dhulivandan), and again on March 19 due to the public holiday for Gudi Padwa. No business will also be held on March 20.

Key discussions during the session will include the United Nations declaration of 2026 as the International Year of Women Farmers, with a special debate planned on the subject. On March 9, both Houses will hold a discussion to mark International Women’s Day. There will also be a debate on the occasion of Marathi Language Pride Day.

In addition, farewell functions will be held for members who are retiring during the session.

The Budget Session is expected to focus on key financial issues, social policies and legislative priorities of the Maharashtra government for the coming financial year.
