Maharashtra: NDRF Rescues 12 Stranded Villagers from Flood-Hit Beed
Beed, 15th September 2025: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Pune, carried out a rescue operation on Monday after heavy rainfall triggered a flood-like situation in parts of Beed district, Maharashtra.
According to officials, a call was received from Mantralaya, Mumbai, alerting about villagers stranded in Tehsil Ashti. In response, a team from the NDRF’s Pune unit, led by Inspector (GD) Pramod Rai, was mobilised from the Unit Headquarters at Sudumbare in Maval taluka at 11:15 am with full rescue equipment. The team travelled nearly 207 km to reach the affected site.
The operation took place behind Undir village near Takalsingh, where local inputs indicated that two families were trapped about one kilometre from the river edge. Boats and outboard motors were transported by tractor to the launch site before the rescue was executed.
By 9.10 pm, the NDRF confirmed that 12 people had been safely rescued, including five women and three children. No casualties were reported. The team stated that no medical assistance or relief distribution was required at the site.
The NDRF said its personnel remain on standby to continue relief and rescue efforts in coordination with the district administration as rainfall continues to affect low-lying villages.
