Pune, 7th February 2025: The Maharashtra School Education Department is set to conduct the lottery for Right to Education (RTE) admissions for the 2025-26 academic year on 10th February (Monday) at 11 AM. The online lottery will take place at the Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Pune and will be live-streamed via video conferencing.
This year’s RTE admission process has seen an overwhelming response, with 3,05,828 applications received for 1,09,111 seats across 8,863 schools in the state. The 25% reservation under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, aims to provide educational opportunities to children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections.
Pune district has received the highest number of applications, with approximately 61,687 applicants vying for 18,507 seats in 960 schools.
Sharad Gosavi, Director of Primary Education, stated that parents will receive notifications about their child’s admission status on their registered mobile numbers between 14th and 15th February 2025. A detailed schedule for school admissions will be announced thereafter.
The online admission process for the 25% RTE quota has been implemented across the state, continuing the practice from previous years. This system aims to ensure transparency and equal opportunities for all eligible applicants.
