Man Dies in Road Accident After Tempo Driver Suddenly Brakes on Mumbai-Pune Highway near Hinjawadi

Hinjawadi, 22nd November 2024: A 40-year-old man has died in a road accident in Pune’s Hinjawadi. A tempo driver, travelling on the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass section of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway, suddenly applied the brakes at Bhumkar Chowk. As a result, a person sitting in the back of the tempo fell, and another man was seriously injured.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Prithvi Chauhan (40), while his brother, Chandan Chauhan (38, both residents of Thane), is receiving treatment for his injuries. Rampat Samaru Banawasi (60, a resident of Uttar Pradesh) has filed a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station.
A case has been registered against the tempo driver, with registration number MH 48 CQ 5583, for rash driving and causing death by negligence.
According to police reports, on 20th November, the driver was speeding on the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass when he suddenly applied the brakes near Bhumkar Chowk, without being aware of his surroundings. The two individuals sitting at the back fell as a result of the sudden stop. Sanjay Chauhan died, while his brother, Chandan, was seriously injured. The driver did not stop and continued driving at high speed. Police Sub Inspector Kande from Hinjawadi Police Station is investigating the matter further.
