Pune, 12th May 2023: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune, has issued a warning of a potential heat wave in Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Pune, urging citizens to take necessary precautions.

The IMD has predicted that the next 72 hours may witness the highest temperature recorded this year.

The rising temperatures have made it challenging for people to venture outdoors during the day, resulting in reduced traffic on the roads. The scorching heat has become noticeable as early as 9 o’clock in the morning.

Pune, like the rest of Maharashtra state, has experienced a surge in temperature. On May 11, the Koregaon Park area of Pune witnessed a peak temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius, marking a new high for the city.

Given the extreme heat conditions, authorities are advising individuals to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and take necessary measures to keep cool.
