Pune, 12th May 2023: A distressing incident has come to light involving a builder who fell victim to a fraudulent scheme, losing a staggering amount of five and a half crore rupees. The deceitful act occurred under the pretence of purchasing a restaurant located in a prestigious building in the camp area. The police have confirmed that a case has been registered against two suspects at Bundagarden police station.

The complainant, Prasad Yashwant Bhimale, a 41-year-old resident of Guruwar Peth, Pune, filed a formal complaint against the accused individuals. The registered case revolves around allegations of financial fraud by Sushil Ghanshyam Aggarwal, a resident of Lullanagar, Pune, and Alnesh Akil Somji, residing on Boat Club Road, Pune.

Bhimale, who operates in the construction industry, engaged with the accused individuals, Aggarwal and Somji, with the intention of acquiring a restaurant situated at Gagan Island township, above the BMW showroom in the Camp area. Trusting the representations made by Aggarwal and Somji regarding the sale of the restaurant, Bhimale transferred a substantial amount of two crores and sixty-two lakhs to the bank account provided by the accused, as agreed upon for the proposed project.

In accordance with the agreed terms, Bhimale issued four cheques, drawn from Kotak Mahindra Bank, totaling five and a half crores as compensation. The accused individuals deceived the complainant by falsely endorsing the blank cheques and subsequently failing to return the invested amount.

The Economic Offences Wing is currently investigating the case.
