Global, 10th October 2023:

Former adult film star Mia Khalifa has found herself at the center of controversy and job termination after posting messages related to the Israel vs. Hamas conflict.

Khalifa, known for her outspoken views, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, following a deadly attack by Hamas on Israel over the weekend. The attack resulted in significant casualties and hostages taken by militants, leading to retaliatory airstrikes by Israel on Gaza.

However, Khalifa’s comments on the conflict quickly sparked backlash as she expressed her support for Palestine. In one post, she urged Palestinian “freedom fighters” to film horizontally, drawing criticism for her choice of words.

In another post, she commented on the conflict, saying, “I can’t believe the Zionist apartheid regime is being brought down by guerrilla fighters in fake Gucci shirts – the biopics of these moments better reflect that.”

These messages garnered the attention of Red Light Holland, a company involved in the production, growth, and sale of functional mushrooms and mushroom home grow kits in North America and Europe. Earlier this year, Khalifa had been recruited by the company as an advisor, tasked with providing strategic social purpose and community engagement initiatives, as well as social media marketing to boost the company’s online presence.

Red Light Holland CEO Todd Shapiro expressed his shock and condemnation of Khalifa’s posts related to the Israel vs. Hamas conflict. In response to her tweet urging Palestinians to “flip their phones and film horizontal,” Shapiro stated, “This is such a horrendous tweet @miakhalifa. Consider yourself fired effective immediately. Simply disgusting. Beyond disgusting.”

Shapiro continued, “Please evolve and become a better human being. The fact you are condoning death, rape, beatings, and hostage-taking is truly gross. No words can explain your ignorance.”

He emphasized the need for unity and compassion during tragic events and expressed hope for Khalifa’s personal growth. Khalifa, in response to her termination, acknowledged that her support for Palestine had cost her business opportunities but also voiced regret for not verifying her association with Red Light Holland.

In her X post, Khalifa stated, “I’d say supporting Palestine has lost me business opportunities, but I’m more angry at myself for not checking whether or not I was entering into business with Zionists. My bad.”

In a separate post, she reiterated her stance, saying, “That’s the most press you’ll ever get out of me for your s****y little company you quite literally couldn’t pay me to post about it publicly before because I thought it was so bad. It’s FREE PALESTINE until Palestine is FREE.”
