Mock Drills at Pune Railway Station and Diesel Loco Shed Enhance Emergency Preparedness

Pune, 07th May 2025: A large-scale mock drill was conducted jointly by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at Pune Railway Station today, aimed at strengthening emergency response mechanisms and ensuring passenger safety in crisis situations.
The drill simulated various emergency scenarios, including evacuation and rescue of injured persons, elderly, women, and children from high-risk areas to safe zones. Passengers were also sensitized on the importance of reporting unattended baggage or suspicious individuals to security personnel, with assurances of confidentiality for informants.
Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Pune Priyanka Sharma oversaw the drill, which saw participation from one Inspector, one Sub-Inspector, five Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 15 RPF personnel, Dog Squad staff with sniffer dog, 10 Mahila Suraksha Force (MSF) staff, IPF/CIB staff, and from GRP: one Inspector, three PSIs, and 40 additional personnel. The exercise also included four Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) members with dog, medical staff, and local traffic police.
Simultaneously, a separate mock safety drill was conducted at the Pune Diesel Loco Shed, focusing on fire emergency preparedness for railway employees. The Civil Defense team led sessions on the use of fire extinguishers, evacuation procedures, and rapid crisis response techniques. A total of 300 employees participated in the drill, which was attended by DME/D Deepak Khot, ADME/D Harsh Tripathi, and DMM/D Sachin Gautam.
The exercises emphasized coordinated efforts between railway, medical, and law enforcement teams to manage emergency situations effectively.
