Pune, 20 July 2021: “Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed to the terms and conditions of the tender process for the Mula-Mutha river pollution control under the National River Conservation Scheme and the actual work on the JICA project will begin soon,” said, Mayor Murlidhar Mohol.

Under the Mula-Mutha river improvement scheme, the wastewater generated in the city will be treated and discharged into the rivers. Japan’s JICA has provided the help of Rs 850 crore for the Rs 1,200 crore project. The administration has again amended the DPR as well as the terms and conditions of the tender. Also, the suggestions made by the interested companies for this work were included in it and sent to the JICA company for final approval. All the terms and conditions with the approval given by JICA have been uploaded along with the tender today.

Giving more information about this, the mayor said, “The deadline for submitting tenders has been given for the next four weeks and after the acceptance of the tenders, the actual work will start. The technical process had to be carried out as per the rules of JICA Company. The tender process will be expedited as it is completed today. Work on the river improvement project will begin in the next few days. We will continue our efforts to complete the project within the stipulated time frame.”

“Over the last several years, the authorities have not paid attention to the pollution of the Mula-Mutha rivers, which has led to pollution in both the rivers. But now the pollution of these two rivers will be controlled through JICA project and pure and flowing water will flow through the rivers. After the completion of this project, the picture of Mula-Mutha rivers will change”, said Mohol.
