New Coronavirus Strain: All India-UK Flights Suspended Till December 31, Suspension Begins Tomorrow Midnight

New Delhi, December 21, 2020: Coronavirus’s new strain has been detected in Britain. Many countries of Europe including France, Germany and the Netherlands have banned UK flights. Now India has also banned the flights.

“Considering the prevailing situation in UK. Govt. of India has decided that all flights originating from the UK to India to be suspended till 31st December 2020 (23.59 hours). This suspension to start w.e.f. 23.59 hours, 22nd December 2020. Consequently, flights from India to the UK shall stand temporarily suspended during the above said period. As a measure of abundant precaution, passengers arriving from the UK in all transit flights (flights that have taken off or flights which are reaching India before 22nd Dec at 23.59 hrs) should be subject to mandatory RT-PCR test on arrival at the airports concerned”, Ministry of Civil Aviation tweeted.

Earlier Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanded suspension of the flights.

Kejriwal wrote that in the United Kingdom, there is a stir with the new strain of Coronavirus and it is acting like a super spreader. In such a situation, the Government of India should ban all UK flights.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote in his tweet that the news of Corona’s new strain in the United Kingdom is worrying. The Government of India should take immediate action in this matter and immediately ban flights coming from the UK and other European countries.

The CM of Rajasthan wrote that India will have to be cautious about any movement with other countries. Also, if there is a case of a new strain of the virus, then the medical expert should be ready.

The government has already brainstormed on the issue and Health Minister has urged not to spread panic about the new form of the Coronavirus that came out in Britain. Today, the Joint Monitoring Group is meeting in Nirman Bhavan and discussions about the new strain and preparations of the Indian health care system will take place.

However, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan says that people should not panic. Our scientists are watching this, but there is no need to spread panic.
