NFAI Pune to Screen Kamal Swaroop’s Films on Dadasaheb Phalke on May 30

Pune, 28th May 2025: The National Film Archive of India (NFAI), in collaboration with the Films Division, will host this month’s edition of Films Division Fridays with a special screening dedicated to Dadasaheb Phalke, regarded as the father of Indian cinema.

The event will be held on May 30, 2025, from 4 PM onwards at the NFDC-NFAI premises in Pune. It will feature a curated series of films by acclaimed filmmaker Kamal Swaroop, focusing on different aspects of Phalke’s life and cinematic legacy.

The screening lineup includes:
Phalke Children (1994) – Duration: 20 minutes
Phalke Journey – Duration: 149 minutes
Rangbhoomi (2013) – Duration: 81 minutes

These films trace Phalke’s personal and professional journey through cities like Bombay (now Mumbai), Kolhapur, Pune, Nasik, and Baroda, offering a layered portrait of the pioneer’s impact on Indian film history.
Entry is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
