New Delhi, 8 May 2025: In the aftermath of India’s successful “Operation Sindoor” targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Pakistan has resorted to misinformation campaigns on social media in an apparent state of panic.

One such false claim gaining traction alleges that the Pakistan Air Force conducted an airstrike on the Indian Army base in Amritsar, resulting in multiple casualties. This claim was accompanied by a 21-second video circulated widely by Pakistani social media accounts.

However, India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) has categorically dismissed the claim. In a fact-check post on platform X, PIB clarified that the circulating footage is not related to any military incident but is an old clip from a forest fire in 2024.

PIB Warns Against Misinformation:
Using the hashtag #PIBFactCheck, the bureau urged citizens not to believe or share unverified content and to rely solely on official sources for accurate updates, especially in times of heightened national tension.

Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, authorities emphasize the need for vigilance and have urged citizens to ‘Stay Alert Against Misinformation.’
