PCMC: Priority to inclusive participation across all sectors under ‘Vision@50’ initiative, says Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil

Pimpri, 22nd March 2025: As Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) approaches its golden jubilee in 2032, the administration has launched the ‘Vision@50 city strategy’ initiative to guide the city’s holistic development. In a Focus Group Discussion held on Saturday (March 22) at Ga Di Madgulkar Auditorium, Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil emphasized the importance of involving stakeholders from all sectors to shape the city’s future roadmap.

“‘Vision@50’ is being implemented under the leadership of Commissioner Shekhar Singh, with the aim of collecting ideas and feedback from citizens across fields. This workshop reflects our commitment to creating an inclusive and ideal urban vision for Pimpri Chinchwad,” Jambhale Patil said.

He added that while the city has a strong identity as an industrial hub, it is equally important to focus on areas like education, environment, sports, urban infrastructure, and mobility.

The workshop saw participation from a wide range of PCMC officials including City Engineer Makrand Nikam, Chief Information and Technology Officer Nilkanth Poman, YCMH Dean Dr Rajendra Wabale, Medical Officer of Health Dr Laxman Gophane, Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni, and several Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Commissioner Vitthal Joshi said, “PCMC has always prioritized development. With the Vision@50 initiative, we are bringing in voices from across society to shape the city’s long-term aspirations. These workshops are vital to identifying the direction our city should take as it completes 50 years.”

The session included inputs from multiple community leaders and institutional representatives such as Smita Patil (National President, NAREDCO MAHI), Sandeep Belsare (Small Industries Association), Abhay Bhor (Small Industries Forum), Shivkami Kotla (Aakanksha Foundation), Sanjay Bansode (Mardani Sports Association), Rajan Lakhe (Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad), Dr Lalitkumar Dhoka (IMA), Mahesh Motwani (PCMC Wholesale Association), Dilip Batwal (Federation of Chakan Industries), and many others.

Participants also deliberated on future challenges and identified actionable solutions to strengthen the city’s resilience and sustainability. The event was compered by Public Relations Officer Praful Puranik.
