Pimpri Chinchwad: 400 People Fined Rs 2 Lakh For Not Wearing Mask, Police Intensify Action

Pimpri Chinchwad, February 21, 2021: As the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases are rising, the Maharashtra government has ordered strict implementation of guidelines like wearing a mask in public places. Accordingly, Pimpri Chinchwad police have launched a crackdown on people found without a mask.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sudhir Hiremath said, “We have intensified the mask violation drive. Yesterday, around 400 people were caught for mask violation and Rs 2 lakh fine was collected. There is Nakabandi at 30 places and Traffic cops are deployed for the same.”

He further added, “We have formed 13 teams with Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and other Council to check violation at hotels, bars and other establishments.”

Yesterday (Feb 20), a total of 202 new COVID19 patients were reported in PCMC areas. Also, 34 people got discharged from hospitals while two persons died.

According to PCMC, the total number of Coronavirus positive patients has reached 10,29,00 out of which 98,199 have recovered while 1830 have died. 909 active patients are still undergoing treatment.
