Pimpri Chinchwad Police Bust Gambling Den Disguised as Entertainment Centre

Pimpri Chinchwad, 11th November 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Police have taken action against 31 individuals operating a gambling den under the guise of an ‘Entertainment Centre,’ seizing items worth Rs 18 lakh. The operation was carried out by the Detection Branch (DB) of Chinchwad Police Station. With the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, Chinchwad Police are conducting combing operations in their jurisdiction, targeting wanted, absconding, and notorious criminals, as well as cracking down on illegal activities.

During one such operation in the Vetal Nagar slums of Chinchwad, police received information about a full-fledged gambling den operating under an Entertainment Centre license. Police raided the location and found 31 individuals present, with 21 of them actively playing Teen Patti. All individuals were charged under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act of 1887. Police seized items used for gambling, along with mobile phones, vehicles, and other valuables, amounting to Rs 18,06,860.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Swapna Gore and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Chinchwad Division) Mugutlal Patil. The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Koli and Police Inspector (Crime) Deepak Gosavi, included Police Sub-Inspectors Ajit Dudhe and Jadhav, as well as Police Constables Gengje, Aamare, Sonpote, Nalge, Mohite, Shaikh, Pinjarkar, Wankhede, and Pharande.
