Pimpri Chinchwad Police Recovers Stolen Valuables Worth Rs 18 Lakh, 48 Cases Solved

Chinchwad, 24th September 2021: The Crime Branch of Pimpri-Chinchwad police have arrested two brothers for burglary. They used to recce closed homes during the day and committed a burglary at night.

Four accused of the gang are still absconding. A goldsmith who took jewellery from the accused has also been arrested. The police seized 220 grams of gold jewellery, two motorcycles, a gas cylinder, home theatre, batteries, coolers, mobile phones, and other items worth Rs 18 lakh 30 thousand.

 

Sahil Ramesh Nanavat alias Allu Arjun (age 25), Devdas alias Das Ramesh Nanavat (age 23), Yogesh Nur Singh (age 34) are the names of the arrested accused.

 

According to Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, while investigating the burglary cases within the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate, the Crime Branch Unit 4 conducted an investigation based on CCTV footage and other technical information on the burglary scene. It turned out that a gang of six people was committing burglary. The police got information that two of them were the two brothers and they were hiding in their relative’s house at Bhandgaon in Daund taluka. Accordingly, the police set a trap and arrested Sahil and Devdas.

 

During the investigation, the accused said that in the last three years, he along with four others had carried out burglary cases at various places within the limits of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate and Pune Rural Police. The thieves were breaking the locks of closed houses and lifting the shutters of the shops. Police also arrested the goldsmith for buying the stolen gold.

 

The action revealed 13 cases of burglary at Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, Hinjewadi- 13, Sangvi -3, Wakad -1, Talegaon Dabhade -12, Wakad Police Station -1, and Paud -7 in rural, Wadgaon Maval -6, Kamshet -3 and Ghodegaon Police Station -3. The police seized 220 grams of gold jewellery, two motorcycles, a gas cylinder, home theatre, batteries, coolers, mobile phones, and other items worth Rs 18 lakh 30 thousand.

 

The accused was engaged in making and selling liquor from an illegal village kiln at the foot of a hill in the forest in the Paud and Maval areas. They used to walk around the area during the day and look for locked houses. At night, they used to cut the locks of the houses with the help of cutters and steal gold and silver jewellery and cash. The accused were also stealing cash and groceries by lifting the shutters of closed shops. From the stolen money, the thieves bought expensive clothes, sports bikes, etc.

 

This investigation was carried under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Hiremath, Anant Bhoite, Assistant Commissioner Dr Prashant Amritkar.
