Pune, 25th March 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given special emphasis to digital governance in its budget for the financial year 2026–27, aiming to deliver faster, transparent, and more effective services to citizens.

The budget, presented in the General Body meeting by Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale, outlines a plan to make civic administration more efficient and citizen-centric through the use of modern technology.

As part of the initiative, the PMC will develop an AI-based grievance management dashboard. Two trained staff members will be appointed in each of the city’s 15 ward offices to operate the system. The platform will automatically forward citizens’ complaints to the concerned departments, enabling quicker action. Weekly reviews will also be conducted to improve the speed and quality of grievance redressal.

The budget also proposes strengthening Pune’s convention centre infrastructure to enhance the city’s national and international profile. Modern facilities and advanced technological infrastructure will be developed to promote conferences, exhibitions, and professional events in the city.

To encourage entrepreneurship and research, the PMC plans to establish a startup incubation centre and an innovation hub. These facilities will provide guidance, technical support, and essential infrastructure to young entrepreneurs, helping promote innovation and generate employment opportunities.

In the healthcare sector, the civic body has announced plans for a cancer hospital, IVF facilities, and a multi-speciality hospital as part of its vision for a healthier Pune.

To enhance the city’s digital capabilities, the PMC will set up a state-of-the-art data centre to ensure that digital services are faster, secure, and uninterrupted. Additionally, a dedicated digital portal will be developed under the Digital Personal Data Protection framework to safeguard citizens’ personal information.

A technology training centre will also be established to train municipal employees in advanced technologies, with a focus on the effective use of AI and e-governance systems.

The civic body also plans to introduce digital transformation in the education sector by equipping 75 municipal schools with smart digital TVs, high-speed internet, and interactive learning modules.

Furthermore, all IT systems of the PMC will undergo comprehensive cyber security audits to strengthen data protection, encryption, and access control mechanisms.

Officials said these initiatives are expected to make civic services faster, more transparent, and accessible to citizens from their homes. The measures are also aimed at simplifying grievance redressal, ensuring data security, and providing students with modern learning facilities, positioning Pune as a leading city in digital governance.
