Prof. Dr. Diwakar Abhyankar donates for Gold medal to the University of Pune to recognize meritorious PG students
Pune, March 25, 2021: Continuing with the tradition of recognition of the students of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune-based, Prof. Dr. Diwakar Abhyankar has donated Rs. 3 lakh for awarding Gold medal to the meritorious postgraduate students of Biotechnology in the University for the Academic year 2021 – 22. Dr. Abhyankar handed over a cheque of Rs. 3 lakh to Prof. Dr. Nitin R. Karmalkar Vice Chancellor of the University over the same.
Dr. Abhyankar so far has sponsored 6 Gold medals in the streams of Economics, Management, Pharma, Law, Physics and Sanskrit and accordingly this is the 7th gold medal sponsored by him.
“Besides being an ex-student, I have also been a Chair professor for S.L. Kirloskar Chair. I feel that it is my social obligation to donate at the University,” he said.
Dr. Abhyankar is a Director General of CREDAI Maharashtra and CREDAI- Pune Metro and was the Director General of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA).
He has also donated on various occasions including flood relief support and handing out sanitizers to the Police personnel during COVID19 lockdown.
