Pune: 7-Year-Old Riaan Chavan Sets India Book Of Records By Cycling 51 km On His 7th Birthday

Pimpri Chinchwad, 21st March 2023: Riaan Devendra Chavan, a seven-year-old student from Kendriya Vidyalaya no. 1, Dehu Road, entered the India Book of Records by cycling 51 km on his seventh birthday on 12th February 2023. Riaan’s journey took him through various areas in Pune, including Pune Darshan, College of Military Engineering (CME), Khadki, Lal Mahal, Shaniwar Wada, Dagdusheth Ganapati, Deccan, Aundh, and Nigdi.
Riaan has shown a keen interest in adventure sports since childhood. At the age of three, he completed the Sinhgad trek and has since climbed various forts such as Tikona, Visapur, Lohgad, Shivneri, Torna, Sarasgad, and Mohandari. He also frequently climbs Ghoradeshwar, Chaurai Mata Dongar, Dongarwadi, Firangai Mata Mandir, and Durga hill near his house.
Riaan has already completed six five-kilometer marathons and completed a 5 km marathon in Pimpri Chinchwad in 34 minutes. He won a bronze medal in the Sports Four All 2022 running event under the age of eight.
Riaan’s parents, Devendra Chavan, a Police Inspector at Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, and Dr. Aparna, a Scientist-E at Zoological Survey of India, Western Regional Center Pune, have supported his passion for adventure sports.
