Pune, 8th June 2021: The second wave of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) is now dying down in the city as it reported less than 200 Covid positive patients on Monday. Last week, the state government had allowed the re-opening of the city with fewer restrictions. However, the road works before monsoon season is in full flow; and as a result, citizens are facing terrible traffic.

People faced heavy traffic as almost everyone ventured out for their important work. Offices, shops, restaurants, gardens as well as gyms, and salons are allowed to be open till 4 pm in the city. Also, the PMPML buses are allowed on roads with 50 per cent capacity.

Due to the road work, less space for parking, and having no traffic police to manage caused traffic jams in many parts of the city. Commuters felt that one lockdown ended while the other started.

Tilak Road, Shivaji road, Bajirao road, Deccan and other main roads of Pune saw long lines of vehicles.

Also, the markets are now open after a huge gap; thus, citizens are flocking to the markets to buy goods as well as to buy raincoats and umbrellas to prepare for the monsoon. Even the markets faced overcrowding and traffic jams. Smaller roads, reckless parking and encroachments are causing terrible difficulties to the shoppers.
