Pune: Agradoot Bangosamaj to Celebrate 8th Year of Durga Utsav in Kharadi

Kharadi, 25th September 2025: The vibrant spirit of Bengal is set to illuminate Pune once again as Agradoot Bangosamaj celebrates its 8th Sarbojonin Durga Utsav at the ABS Durga Puja Venue in Kharadi, from September 26 to October 2, 2025. The week-long festivities will combine devotion, culture, and community bonding, making it one of the city’s most eagerly awaited celebrations.
The event will commence with Anando Mela on September 26, followed by daily rituals including Pushpanjali, Maha Bhog, Sandhi Puja, and Kumari Puja. Each evening will feature cultural programs, while the festival will conclude on October 2 with Bijoya Dashami Sindoor Daan Utsav and the traditional immersion ceremony.
Maha Bhog – The Festival’s Highlight
One of the most cherished aspects of the celebration is the Maha Bhog. From Saptami to Navami, nearly 10,000–15,000 devotees are served the traditional community feast. To ensure authenticity, a team of 10 expert cooks from Panskura, West Bengal, travel to Pune each year to prepare the meals, preserving the true flavors of Bengal.
Cultural Extravaganza
Beyond rituals, the festival will showcase a rich line-up of cultural performances including dance, drama, music, and live band shows. Highlights this year include:
Popular Bengali music group DOHAR, known for their soulful folk renditions and appearances on Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
Singer Ranita Banerjee, winner of Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and first runner-up of Indian Idol (Sony TV).
Speaking about the event, Bablu Maity, President of Agradoot Bangosamaj, said, “Durga Utsav is not just a celebration of faith, but also of togetherness. Through Maha Bhog and cultural programs, we aim to bring the community closer while preserving our traditions. We welcome everyone in Pune to be part of this grand celebration.”
The organizers have also appealed to sponsors and well-wishers for support, emphasizing that contributions not only sustain this tradition but also offer brands visibility among a large, diverse community.
