Narayangaon, 10th February 2025: Nashik police have detained eight Bangladeshi nationals in Adgaon for residing illegally in India. During the investigation, it was discovered that three of them had obtained Aadhar cards and residence certificates from Narayangaon in Pune’s Junnar taluka. The most shocking revelation was that one of the detainees was listed as a voter in the Narayangaon Gram Panchayat, triggering concerns over document fraud.

The Crime Branch’s operation, led by Police Sub-Inspector Mayur Nikam, found that Aleem Suan Khan Mandal (32), Al-Amin Aminur Sheikh (21), and Mosin Maufizul Mulla (22) had acquired Indian identification documents despite being Bangladeshi nationals. Further scrutiny revealed that Alamin Aminur Sheikh’s name was included in the voter list of Ward No. 5 under the Narayangaon Gram Panchayat. His voter ID number (AFB 8907669) has raised serious questions about the legitimacy of the registration process.

On February 8, a Nashik Crime Branch team visited Narayangaon with two of the detainees to verify their claims of residence. Investigations revealed that they had been living in a building opposite the BSNL office in Ward No. 4. The police are now probing how these illegal residents obtained official documents and who facilitated their entry into the voter list.

Narayangaon Gram Panchayat officials have stated that residence certificates are issued only after verifying a self-declaration form and Aadhar card details. Authorities are now examining who approved these certificates for the Bangladeshi nationals.

Meanwhile, Narayangaon NCP Zilla Parishad Group President Ganesh Vajge and former Gram Panchayat member Ramdas Abhang have demanded a thorough inquiry by the taluka administration. They have urged officials to determine how a Bangladeshi citizen was added to the voter list and identify those responsible for the inclusion.
