Pune: BJP Candidate Rahul Kul Secures Hat-Trick Victory in Daund Constituency

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Rahul Kul has achieved a comfortable win in the Daund constituency during the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, securing his third consecutive term as an MLA. Kul defeated former MLA Ramesh Thorat from the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Rahul Kul previously won the Daund seat in 2014 as a Rashtriya Samaj Paksha candidate and in 2019 under the BJP banner. Despite facing significant anti-incumbency sentiment, Kul’s campaign proved successful. Veteran leader Sharad Pawar had campaigned extensively for Thorat in Daund, leading many to believe the tide might turn. However, Kul’s efforts, bolstered by Devendra Fadnavis’s support, helped him secure the win.
Daund saw a high voter turnout of 73.27%, with 3.13 lakh registered voters, making the outcome unpredictable. By 1 PM, after all rounds were counted, Rahul Kul was declared victorious with a lead of 12,342 votes.
