Pune: Bohra Community Organises Cleanliness Awareness Walk In Raviwar Peth

Pune, 10th February: A cleanliness awareness walk was conducted at Raviwar Peth, the main city area by the people of the Dawoodi Bohra Community as a humble contribution to the countries vision of ”Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.” This walk started from the Badriyah High School grounds to Bohri Aali via Ganesh Peth at 10:30 am on Wednesday (Feb 9) and proved to be a great success.

 

The main aim of this drive was to keep Pune city clean and green through the cleanliness awareness walk. Around 400 participants were present along with some respected dignitaries and Pune city corporators among which, the Senior Police Inspector of Faraskhana police station, BJP corporator Aarti Kondhare, Ravi Dhangekar, Police Inspector Harshvardhan Gade of Khadak police station, Shivsena corporator Vishal Dhanawade, Vice President BJP Namdev Malvade, Pune International Trade Organisation (PITA) president Raju Shaikh, were also present.

 

Shop owner of a store in Bohri Aali, A.K. Abdujee, Huned Poonawala said, ”It was a good initiative taken by the members to raise awareness in the old city as predominantly these areas are very crowded and people are not very thoughtful about throwing trash on the roads. Hopefully, this will create awareness among the shopkeepers as well as the customers.”

 

The members were seen holding banners and slogans and participating enthusiastically in the walk. There were stickers and cards given to every shop owner with a message encouraging them to maintain a clean and green neighbourhood too.

 

Khuzem Godnadiwala, member of the organising committee said, ”We along with all our committee members have been working on this for weeks, to make this event a success and our main motive was raising awareness which was achieved, we will ensure more such events will be held in the future too.”
