Hadapsar, 4th December 2023: Shapoorji Pallonji Group, engaged in the construction of the Joyville Homes Project at Shewalewadi, has been slapped with a fine of one lakh rupees by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The penalty comes as a consequence of the company’s alleged failure to implement adequate measures to curb pollution resulting from its construction activities. The Hadapsar Mundhwa Ward Office, responsible for overseeing such matters, took this action following complaints from local citizens, including BJP vice president Rahul Shewale.

Despite PMC administration recommendations to adopt pollution prevention measures, concerns were raised about the apparent non-compliance during the execution of the Joyville Homes Project. In response to a complaint lodged by Rahul Shewale, the PMC administration conducted an inspection, leading to the imposition of the fine.

Simultaneously, the PMC took action against 48 individuals for creating excessive noise in public places.

The team responsible for these actions, led by PMC Assistant Commissioner Balasaheb Dhawale Patil, included Senior Health Inspector Sanjay Dhanwat, Health Inspector Vikas More, Mukadam Datta Pol, and Ravi Kshirsagar. This enforcement effort was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management Department Sandeep Kadam and Zone Four Deputy Commissioner Prasad Katkar.
