Pune, 8th May 2025: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Pune, has announced that the National Lok Adalat will be conducted across all Pune district courts on Saturday (10th May), providing citizens an opportunity to resolve pending disputes quickly and amicably. More than 1,08,000 cases are set to be taken up for settlement in this mega legal event, which will include matters such as motor accident claims, family disputes, civil cases, cheque bounce cases, bank and utility bill disputes, and other compoundable criminal offences.

DLSA Secretary Sonal Patil urged citizens to participate, stating, “We encourage the public to take advantage of the Lok Adalat to save time, money, and resolve disputes through mutual agreement. Settlements reached in Lok Adalat are final and cannot be appealed, and parties are entitled to a refund of court fees as per rules.” DLSA President Mahendra Mahajan added that over 135 panels have been formed at the District Court in Shivajinagar, various taluka courts, and other offices to ensure smooth proceedings.

Past Lok Adalat sessions in Pune have led to significant outcomes, including a Rs 2.5 crore compensation for a road accident victim, a Rs 1.75 crore settlement in accident and loan disputes, reconciliation of separated couples, and resolution of electricity theft arrears under the Mahavitran Abhay Yojana. In March 2024, Pune courts settled 1.4 lakh cases amounting to Rs 369.78 crore, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Lok Adalat system in reducing case backlogs and restoring peace of mind for litigants.

The National Lok Adalat, held under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), will take place simultaneously across 28 states and union territories, under the leadership of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and CJI-designate B.R. Gavai. For more information, Pune residents can contact the DLSA or their local court offices.
