Cyber Criminals Arrested from Odisha for Duping Residents of Rs 1.07 Crore

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 8th August 2025: The Cyber Police Station of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested two accused from Odisha who were involved in duping multiple residents of Rs 1,07,25,000. Police said the breakthrough came after a two-month-long intensive search operation.

Police stated that Ganesh Lokhande, a resident of Mumbai, and Ranjan Kumar Sahu, a resident of Odisha, have been arrested and booked at the Cyber Police Station. Both of them were involved in the grocery business in their personal lives.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr Shivaji Pawar said multiple complaints of a share market scam were received. The accused had opened an IPO and convinced innocent people to invest in it. Investors were shown virtual profits, but whenever they tried to withdraw the money, they were unable to do so.

DCP Dr Pawar further said that out of the total duped amount, Rs 69 lakh was transferred to a Mumbai-based account. Police traced it, and a team went to Mumbai and arrested Lokhande. He confessed to the crime and revealed that he was working with Sahu and another accomplice named Ramesh Parmar.

According to police reports, the accused Sahu was constantly on the move, travelling across states like West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and others. After two months, police tracked him down and finally arrested him. From his bank accounts, Rs 5.01 crore belonging to 37 different residents has been recovered. The search for the third accused is ongoing. The operation was carried out by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Ravi Kiran Nale, under the guidance of senior Pimpri-Chinchwad Police officials.
