Pune: Dacoits Loot Konark Express Passengers Near Daund, One Person Injured

Daund, 27th October 2021:A group of dacoits targeted Mumbai-Bhubaneshwar Konark Express near Daund on Tuesday night.

They looted ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh from two women passengers while one man was injured.

According to police, the incident took place around 8.30 pm on Tuesday near the outer signal of the Nanvij railway gate between Daund and Patas stations. The train had halted as the signal wire was broken. The dacoits snatched the gold chain worth Rs 65,000 of Meenakshi Shivputra Gaikwad (25) of Solapur in S-1 coach. Her brother Rakesh Gaikwad got down and caught hold of the two robbers. However, other robbers assaulted him with stones.

In S-4 coach, Kalpana Vinayak Shriram (59) of Solapur was robbed of her chain worth Rs 90,000.

The dacoits had also pelted stones at the train engine. The train reached Daund railway station at 9.56 pm.

A case of robbery has been registered and further investigation is going on to nab the dacoits.
