Wakad, 25th April 2025: Residents of Wakad and neighbouring areas in Pimpri Chinchwad are grappling with severe traffic congestion, especially during school hours. Viral videos circulating on social media have brought attention to the situation outside Euro School in Wakad, where narrow roads and traffic indiscipline lead to daily gridlock.

Residents from nearby housing societies, including Mont Vert Vivant, Akshay Towers, and Kalpataru Splendour, say they face the brunt of this chaos every day. Euro School is located at a crucial junction connecting Dutta Mandir Road, Bhosari-Wakad BRTS Road, and Wakad-Kaelwadi Road. The resulting bottleneck during school opening and closing hours severely impacts traffic flow in the area.

A concerned parent told Punekar News, “The traffic is terrible when we come to pick up our child. Despite the high fees the school charges, they haven’t provided basic parking facilities. The problem worsens because Kamal Pratishtan’s Mount Litera School also gets over at the same time, leading to hundreds of vehicles piling up.”

In emails and messages sent to Punekar News, local residents described the daily scene outside the school as a “nightmare.” One resident wrote, “The narrow roads are packed with cars, and most parents arrive in individual vehicles with one child, leading to severe congestion. There’s no traffic management during peak hours. Parents often park in the middle of the road or at the U-turn, completely blocking the way.”

Residents also raised serious concerns about emergency access. “If there’s a real emergency, the outcome could be tragic,” one resident warned. They urged the school administration to take immediate steps—such as promoting school bus usage, improving parking infrastructure, and implementing a regulated traffic flow system.

Senior Police Inspector Sunil Pinjan of Wakad Traffic Division, Pimpri Chinchwad Police, said, “We will verify the issue and take appropriate action. However, the school administration must also take responsibility. Parents and students need to cooperate. Students should use public transport. Parents dropping and picking up children must show discipline and patience. If the situation does not improve, we will take strict measures.”
