Ajit Pawar Reviews Draft Development Plan Published By PMRDA

Pune, 29th August 2021: Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA)Commissioner Dr Suhas Divase today presented the draft development plan (DP) prepared by PMRDA before a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at the Council Hall.

While developing the best metropolis that is livable for the citizens, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that suggestions from people’s representatives and citizens would be useful while finalizing the draft development plan.

Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council Nilam Gorhe expressed satisfaction over the draft development plan. She also instructed to create facilities for senior citizens, women’s self-help groups, and cycle zones.

What does the development plan propose?

The development plan includes two ring roads, a high-speed railway, and 10 metro lines, 13 multi-model hubs, 4 regional centres, 15 civic centres, 12 logistics centres, 5 tourist spots, and 3 circuits, 5 educational centres, 2 medical research centres, and 7 Accident Treatment Centers, Biodiversity Parks, Agricultural Process Research and Development Centers, 1 Sports University, 8 Rural Empowerment Centers, 59 Public Housing Projects, 26 Town Planning Schemes, 4 Agricultural Produce Market Centers, 5 Regional Parks, 8 Biodiversity Parks and 16 Important projects like civic parks, 4 renewable energy generation centres, 30 fire stations have been proposed.

PMRDA appointed as a “Special Planning Authority”

The total area of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority is 6914.26 sq. Km. The area is the largest in the state and the third-largest in the country, said PMRDA Commissioner Dr Divase while presenting the development plan.

The boundaries of the Pune Municipal Corporation have been extended to include 23 villages within the limits of the authority and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority has been appointed as a “Special Planning Authority” to prepare their draft development plans. Completed on the basis of aerial survey, on-site observation, and Geographic Information System (GIS), an existing land use map of the planning area has been prepared and digitalized in it.

 Deadline for suggestions extended

The draft development plan for the period has been made available to the citizens at the PMRDA office in Aundh for solicitation of suggestions and objections during office hours. Also, maps have been kept in 9 tehsil offices. The draft development plan will also be available on the PMRDA website. Citizens can submit their objections, suggestions in person or by post or email to [email protected]. The deadline for submission of suggestions and objections has been extended till September 15, 2021.
