Pune District Court Issues Notification Preventing Women To Fix Their Hair In Court; Says, “Disturbs Functioning”

Pune, 24th October 2022: The Pune District Court issued a notification as of October 20 which instructed women’s right advocates not to fix/arrange their hair in the court.
The notification stated further that women’s hairstyles “disturb” the court’s operation. This has caused an outrage on social media.

 

People on Twitter are expressing their thoughts on the same.
Senior Attorney Indira Jaising tweeted about the decision saying, “Wow, take a look! Who are women’s rights advocates distracting, and why?”

 

Journalist Ranjona Banerji tweeted, “The amount of patriarchy is just ludicrous.”

One more person tweeted, “Are women’s rights advocates also prohibited if they decide to be distracted tomorrow by the sheer presence of women? or requested to don a ghunghat.”

 

Some individuals questioned whether India had returned to the Middle Ages.

 

Another user pointed out that the The judiciary has no business dictating such laws.

 

According to a Bar & Bench report, the sign was taken down in response to complaints.
