Pune District Introduces Geo-Fencing And GPS Tracking For Mineral Transport Monitoring

Pune, 27th December 2024: In Pune District, the transportation of minor minerals will be monitored using geo-fencing and Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking. Routes will be determined through kilometre markers, and whether the minerals are sold at designated locations will be closely observed. A control room has been established in the Pune District Collector’s Office for this purpose.
In the district’s rural areas, the Pune District Administration will monitor sand excavation from riverbanks, its transportation, and subsequent sale. Talathis, divisional officers, and revenue officials will conduct online Panchnamas using a mobile app. If any illegal transportation occurs at excavation sites, photographs can be taken, and Panchnamas can be conducted online, ensuring transparency in operations.
Old excavation sites will be scanned and digitized. The control room will review penalties from across Pune District, according to Additional Pune District Collector Suhas Mapari. Temporary and permanent permits issued through the Maharashtra Government’s District-Level Mahakhanij Website will also be monitored. An Electronic Transit Pass (ETP) is issued for transportation. The system will check if vehicles unload sand at unauthorized locations or transport quantities exceeding the permitted consignment. The control room will track such discrepancies.
