Pune District To Implement ‘Single Window’ Scheme To Curb Extortion And Promote Industry Growth

Pune, 14th January 2025: In response to growing reports of extortion targeting industries in Beed district, the Pune District Administration has decided to take concrete measures to make the area industry-friendly and eliminate such illegal practices.
Under the new initiative, a ‘Single Window’ scheme will be implemented, enabling industries to easily obtain necessary licenses and permits. The administration has also announced that strict action will be taken against those involved in extorting money from businesses, with the option for entrepreneurs to register complaints directly on the District Collector’s Office website.
The move comes after a recent murder case in Beed district, allegedly linked to extortion demands from local industries. Several other reports of extortion have surfaced, further highlighting the need for systemic changes to ensure a safe and conducive environment for business growth.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has spearheaded the initiative, aiming to make the district a hub for industrial activity by providing easier access to necessary licenses. Starting a business currently requires permissions from eleven different departments, with seven of these falling under the Collectorate’s jurisdiction. Under the Single Window Scheme, licenses from these seven departments will be issued seamlessly, facilitating smoother processes for industries and startups alike.
Dudi emphasized the importance of a balanced law and order system in boosting entrepreneurs’ confidence. He assured that anyone involved in extorting money or obstructing businesses would face legal action, with complaints being handled promptly through the police and district administration.
To further engage with the community, Dudi has also announced that he will be available to meet citizens from rural areas every Monday to Friday from 3 pm to 5 pm. He has instructed officials to conduct regular inspections of schools, health centers, and Anganwadis in the district, with appropriate funds to be allocated through the District Planning Committee.
The ‘Single Window’ scheme is expected to be implemented within the next month, marking a significant step toward creating a more welcoming and efficient environment for businesses in the Pune region.
