Vishrantwadi, 23rd September 2025: Ten to twelve days after students of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Government Boys Hostel (Golf Club) were relocated to a new hostel in Vishrantwadi, residents have raised concerns over the lack of basic facilities. Students say that essential services such as water, toilets, charging points, lifts, mess, and security arrangements have not been adequately provided since the migration.

According to the students, while moving from the Yerawada hostel, they had requested that all facilities available in the old hostel be ensured at the new location. “Assistant Commissioner Vishal Londhe urged us to move, while Deputy Commissioner Vandana Kochure gave assurances. But in reality, none of the promised facilities have been provided,” the students said.

Currently, the study hall has only 32 seats for 250 students. The students demand that seating capacity be increased to at least 124, similar to the old hostel, to allow proper study conditions.

The students clarified that their complaints are not personal allegations against the administration but are aimed at removing inconveniences that affect education.

Key Demands from Students
Sufficient charging points for mobile phones and laptops in the study hall.
Internet connectivity in all rooms, with routers installed in the hostel.
Immediate repair and activation of broken lifts.
Provision of nutritious and quality food in the mess.
Adequate drinking water supply, with water filters installed.
Continuous water supply in toilets and necessary items such as buckets, mirrors, and jugs.
Installation of geysers for hot water.
Well-equipped gym facilities for students’ physical fitness.
CCTV cameras for safety across the hostel premises.

Despite repeated attempts, officials from the Social Welfare Department did not respond to calls or messages seeking a statement on the issue.
