Pune: Dr Vijay Suryawanshi Appointed New PCMC Commissioner

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 11th March 2026: The Maharashtra government has appointed senior IAS officer Dr Vijay Suryawanshi as the new Municipal Commissioner of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The decision was announced on Wednesday through an official order issued by the state’s General Administration Department.

The order, signed by Joint Secretary Subhash Umranikar, states that the post of PCMC Commissioner has been upgraded to the Supertime Pay Scale of the Indian Administrative Service, and Dr Suryawanshi has been posted to the position following the upgrade.

At present, Dr Suryawanshi is serving as the Divisional Commissioner of the Konkan Division, with his office at Konkan Bhavan in Navi Mumbai. The government has instructed him to complete the formal handover of his current responsibilities in coordination with the Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue, Registration and Stamp Duty Department before assuming his new assignment.

He will succeed Shravan Hardikar, who is currently serving as the Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Dr Suryawanshi is a 2006-batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre and has held several significant administrative roles during his career. Previously, he served as the Additional Metropolitan Commissioner at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and as the Municipal Commissioner of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation.
Earlier in his career, he also worked as the District Collector of Raigad and Gondia districts.

Dr Suryawanshi is expected to assume charge of the PCMC administration after completing the formalities related to his current posting.
